INSTALL’s mission is to ensure the continued health and prosperity of the North American floorcovering industry, to demonstrate commitment to quality installations and to enhance the industry’s reputation.

INSTALL was created through the vision of leading floor covering contractors across the United States and Canada and the United Brotherhood of Carpenters to address the growing shortage of skilled, qualified floor covering professionals throughout North America. Today, INSTALL is steered by a 12-member labor management committee and is supported by the superior training program of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters.

INSTALL represents the floor covering industry’s most comprehensive training program for residential, commercial and institutional floor covering installers throughout the United States and Canada. The biggest names in floor covering manufacturing support INSTALL, including Armstrong, Mohawk, Mannington, Forbo  and Shaw.

The roots of INSTALL Local Union 2287 reach back into the 1800s, when carpet layers were part of the Seamsters and Upholsterers Union. Major specialties include installing carpet, wood flooring and linoleum, but they have added vinyl, rubber, specialty surfaces, finished concrete and athletic field turf and tracks to their repertoire. INSTALL Local Union 2287 leadership works aggressively to maintain and expand jobs and jurisdiction through training and organizing.

The Greater New York Floor Covering Contractors Association is a collection of the finest, most capable and resourceful floor covering contractors in the world. They have the experience and sophistication to help develop, plan, coordinate and install any floor covering material under the most challenging conditions. They provide support staff and an INSTALL certified installation workforce.

INSTALL NYC’s history is a continuing tale of ingenuity and success!
